Documents drawn up by the Digos , intelligence reports , information on companies and individuals involved in various capacities in the investigation of the murders of Ilaria Alpi and Miran Hrovatin , the journalist and the operator of the TG3 killed in Somalia on March 20, 1994, who were investigating arms trafficking and illegal toxic waste.
May 23 2014 The hypothesis of the discovery of arms trafficking at the base of the murder of ILAria ALPI and MIRAN HROVATIN, was made by Sisde, the internal secret service , already in May 1994 , just two months after the homicide . This emerges from the documents obtained by the House in the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the murder of Ilaria Alpi and it is now declassified.
The notes of Sisde
A confidential memo of Sisde dated May 31, 1994 states that in Somalia , the ship of the cooperative Italo- Somali ' Somalfish ' seized in Bossaso , Somalia has previously carried weapons smuggling (Added: Today a TV report specified the weapons were from Russia) to the SSDF faction in that city . This Information was contained in the last service carried out by the journalist in that area before being killed probably because someone would have warned the leaders of the smugglers ' .
A few days later, on 8 June 1994, the Sisde reiterated that, according to information acquired confidentially during a news report carried in Bossaso (Somalia) a few days before her death, "the two Italian citizens in question ( Ilaria Alpi and Miran Hrovatin) would have gathered pieces of information about a transport of contrabanded weapons carried by barge '21 October ' cooperative Italo- Somali ' Somalfish ' on behalf of the Somali faction SSDF ( Somali salvation democratic front ) '' . The conclusion then was that the double murder may have been ordered by the Somali arms dealers to prevent the disclosure of information concerning criminal activity taking place in the Horn of Africa.
Earlier, on 7 May 1994 , intelligence reported in a confidential memo and subsequently acquired by the parliamentary committee , the "voices in Somalia," according to which the murder of Ilaria Alpi and Miran Hrovatin would have resulted, among other hypothesis , by the mission that the two Italians would have carried out a few days before their death in Bossaso town when they had the opportunity to visit the ship “October '21” , seized by militants SSDF . The journalist, according to the note of Sisde had also collected information about the kidnapping of the ship and the mismanagement of the funds invested by the Italian Government. (Added: Previous hypothesis identified as the killers members of the intelligence themselves who did not want such information to be leaked).
The situation described by the intelligence in Somalia presents a prey to the ' warlords ' and hostilities between clans for dominance over the territory. A memo dated 23 July 1994 refers to the armed attack on UNOSOM contingent in Mogadishu in which they some Pakistani military were killed and four officers seized , including three Italians . The confirmation would have come from the Somali community in Rome, that the action was carried out by elements of the clan Habarghidir and not from any armed group .
The Somali collaboration
Less than two months ago Somalia said it is ready to work for the truth because, as stated by the president of the Somali parliament Mohammad Osman Jawari , "the truth is good for everyone , the living as well as for the dead , relatives , rulers and the governed. "
