Central bank's funding for oil giant Pdvsa up 156% in 12 months

The financial aid from the Central Bank of Venezuela amounts to VEB 515.8 billion (USD 82.4 billion)

Official data reveals the Central Bank of Venezuela's financial aid to state oil company Pdvsa continues growing, skyrocketing 156% in 12 months.

By July 25, Pdvsa had received funds in the amount of VEB 515.8 billion (USD 82.4 billion), climbing from VEB 201.2 billion (USD 31.9 billion) a year earlier.

Indeed, data shows financing has shot up 26.4% in seven months.

Given the country's current state of affairs, in a presentation before investment funds in London, Venezuelan Vice-President for Economic Affairs Rafael Ramírez remarked that actions to be adopted in the months ahead include discontinuing financing by the BCV.
