According to the 2023 AFP Payments Fraud and Control Survey Report, underwritten by J.P. Morgan, there are clear signs that payments fraud is abating, however, fraudsters are relentless and will continue to target organizations and any vulnerable payment networks.
Fraud activity reported in the survey included:
** Checks – 63% of respondents say their organizations faced fraud activity keeping checks as the most vulnerable payment method to fraud.
** Business Email Compromise Scams – 71% of companies falling victim to payments fraud via email in 2022
** Corporate/Commercial Credit Card Fraud – the share of organizations experiencing this increased by 10 percentage points in 2022
