The Ford Motor Company is suing the Internal Revenue Service in the US District Court in Detroit because it believes it paid too much income tax in nine years between 1983 and 1994.
The Chicago Tribune reported that Ford wants $445.3 million from the government, which, it says, is the interest accrued on the overpayments.
Richard Zuckerman, of the Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn law firm in Detroit, is representing Ford. Attempts to settle with the tax authorities broke down last year and this led to the filing of the suit, the lawyer said.
