CFZ manager: Central Bank of Venezuela knew about scam with Panama

Panamanian entrepreneurs had informed the Venezuelan government


Colón Free Trade Zone Manager Leopoldo Benedetti stated that since October 2013 the Venezuelan government has been fully aware of the wrongdoings found in Venezuela-Panama trade operations.

"I gave Eudomar Tovar at the Central Bank of Venezuela (...) all the details regarding the fraudulent debt so they could further analyze it, contact these Venezuelan entrepreneurs, and see how they committed fraud from Venezuela," he said, EFE reported.

Benedetti commented that entrepreneurs and Venezuelan officials would agree to inflate the debt to Panamanian exporters.

The task force President Nicolás Maduro established to address the issue of debt with Panamanian exporters knew about these irregularities, noted Benedetti.
